The panel type of this S2716DG is TN(Twisted Nematic) which is most commonly used panel for monitors as it is cheap which makes the overall price of monitors less. This panel type is known for providing great refresh rate with high level of responsiveness. But it lacks in providing high contrast and color accuracy. The optimal resolution of this LED monitor is 2560 x 1440 with contrast ratio of 1000: 1 and brightness of 350 cd/m2. It supports Color Gamut of 82% (CIE1976) and 72% (CIE 1931). Although the resolution and brightness is good enough but the color accuracy is not much appreciable. It could be more better.

The screen has refresh rate of 144hz with fast response time of 1ms. This is the optimal refresh rate for majority of the fast monitors. This makes it better for gaming and other high frame rate applications. Is S2716DG worth it ?

Well this is a wonderful budget all-purpose monitor for gaming and editing to doing office works soundly.

Having refresh rate of 144Hz and response time of 1ms, this is one of the better performing budget gaming monitor. You can fulfill your gaming dreams without any frame lag or screen tear as it is equipped NVIDIA G-Sync.

You can also do your editing and programming tasks on this monitor accurately and quickly. Believe me it will not let you down.

But, as it is comes with TN Panel, it might fail in certain instances to give you more accurate colors. So not recommendable for doing color related tasks. For instances, not for doing professional photo or illustrations editing.

Also, the built quality is average. The chassis is of plastic material. I have noticed that when I hold the monitor in the hand by its corner, the screen seems little moving. The contact with the plastic chassis and the screen is not tight enough. Well it is not a problem but not feels good if you are buying something from big brand.

Should I go with this S2716DG Monitor ?

Well if you want a budget monitor for your office and schools works. Also you edit a lot whether photos or videos. Also play games for time pass, definitely it is a wonderful choice for you.

But if you are looking for extreme gaming or extreme editing monitor that gives you super nice picture quality with good color-accuracy, you should consider investing more.
